The 2nd Chania Declaration at Open Harvest 2017
Following the success of the first Open Harvest event in 2016, e-ROSA’s partner Agroknow renewed the experience in Chania last May. And once again, what an inspiring and truly enriching moment!
People from all around the world gathered during three days and reflected on the opportunity of data and technology to support research and innovation in the agri-food chain. Thanks to Nikos Manouselis and his Agroknow team’s unique orchestration of the workshop, knowledge sharing and a spirit of collaboration animated every discussion.
Concerning e-ROSA more specifically, the coordinator Odile Hologne (INRA) shared the objectives and progress of the project with the participants and chaired a breakout group on the implementation of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) in agri-food research.
Partners all agreed on the need for capacity-building and shared guidance and methods in the field of data management and FAIRification. They highlighted the need to rely on semantic resources and business models for sustainable openness as part of the “commons” of the community in order to envision the future of our e-infrastructure ecosystem.
